Aliya Post Mortem


Inspiration from Billiards

The inspiration of "Aliya" actually came from billiards. The bouncing of billiard balls feels very interesting and cool, so we thought about whether we could combine that bouncing mechanics with some of the combat elements we like to create a gameplay. After a few tries, we finally determined the core gameplay - Enemies have pre-set bounce directions. Attacks can bounce between enemies to deal damage. 

Exploring Game Mechanics

As we continue to develop the basic gameplay, we're constantly exploring what other interesting experiences this game mechanics can create. In the end, we decided to use two modes to present our game: one is a traditional level mode, which allows players to learn and understand the game mechanics and solve carefully designed little puzzles; the other is a Roguelike survival mode, a more entertaining mode that puts players' abilities to test and challenges them to deal with different situations on the field. 

We think these two modes can create two different but interesting gameplay experiences. Although the game is still in the early development stage, many elements have not yet been completed, and there is only an early demo to experience the core gameplay, but I still hope everyone can like it.
